India’s tradition of Silk Sarees is as diverse as its culture. From Kanchipuram to Assam, each region offers a variety of silk saree that reflects the cultural Heritage and Craftsmanship of the area.

As someone who appreciates the beauty and craftsmanship of these sarees, I want to share with you details about the Cities and Places where these beautiful Textiles are made.  

Kanchipuram - Tamil Nadu

Kanchipuram, often called the Silk City of India, is Known  for its Kanjivaram Sarees. These sarees are made from Pure Mulberry Silk and are famous for their Bright Colors, Heavy Gold Borders, and Temple Inspired Designs. Kanjivaram Sarees are a staple for South Indian Brides, reflecting the rich Cultural Heritage of Tamil Nadu.

Did you know that an Authentic Kanjivaram Saree must have at least 57% Silver and 0.6% Gold in its zari work? 

Banaras (Varanasi) - Uttar Pradesh

Patola - Gujarat

Patola sarees originate from Patan in Gujarat and are known for their complex double ikat weaving technique which has been practiced for over 900 years. This demanding process involves dyeing both the warp and weft threads before they are woven together which makes the sarees identical on both sides.
